Governor Stein Releases Workforce-Friendly Budget Proposal
Raleigh, N.C. -- Josh Stein has unveiled his first budget proposal as Governor. Aimed at strengthening North Carolina's workforce, it contains significant investments in education, apprenticeships, and unemployment benefits. The plan allocates $138.2 million for the fiscal year 2025-26 and $117.7 million for 2026-27 to develop a skilled workforce and create pathways to high-demand, high-wage jobs.

ncIMPACT Visits Western North Carolina
In late September 2024, Hurricane Helene unleashed unprecedented devastation upon Western North Carolina (WNC), resulting in over 100 fatalities and leading to 39 counties being declared federal disaster areas. The storm's impact was not uniform; some communities were entirely destroyed, while neighboring areas remained relatively unscathed. This disparity in destruction has prompted a regional movement toward reimagining resilience, focusing on the interconnectedness of recovery challenges rather than isolated issues.
