NCAWDB TO HOLD ANNUAL MEETING

Assessing the past and present of workforce development is key for the future.

 

September 9, 2023. – The North Carolina Association of Workforce Development Boards will be holding their annual meeting on October 11th to unveil their new strategic plan, but to also discuss past, present, and future of workforce development. There will be a lineup of speakers such as:

  • BOB KNIGHT who will be discussing the past with his presentation “Six Decades of Workforce Development.”
    • Bob is currently the Director of Government Relations and Workforce Policy for Equus Workforce Solutions. He has over thirty years of experience with workforce development, and he has specialized in welfare-to-work programs and youth employment policy. He is also a former President and CEO of the National Association of Workforce Development Boards.
  • LAURA ULLRICH who will be discussing the present with her presentation “What’s Happening in NC Regarding the Workforce?”
    • Laura is currently a senior regional economist at the Charlotte branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. She has previously been a business consultant and renowned economics professor, teaching in the United States and abroad. She also has an extensive list of publications that cover topics like higher education, school finance reform, and the economic impact of local development.
  • SARAH HALL who will be giving the IEI Report Update that discusses trends and developing situations that may impact workforce development.
    • Sarah currently is the Director for the Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) at NC State University. She has more than twenty years of public service experience ensuring that North Carolina can engage individuals from all walks of life so that they may achieve excellence. She was also named as one of Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.

This event is important as North Carolina’s workforce development leaders meet to discuss what the future of the workforce may look like. More details will be released closer to the event date.
